A little about the 4-H Horse Project...
4-H is open to Kindergarten thru 3rd graders as "Prep Members" and 4th thru 13th graders (college freshmen) as "Active Members." Prep members are introduced to everything 4-H and encouraged to participate as much as possible. Active members in the Horse Project have certain requirements to remain in "good standing." Those requirements are to maintain a project book (a recordation of the year's experiences with their project horse - horses will be provided for those who do not own one), to attend 70% of their club's meetings, to give a presentation on the topic of their choice, and to participate in one of the annual competitions in Horse Bowl, Horse Judging or Hippology. All of these requirements are geared toward teaching the members more about horses than they ever dreamed of!
In addition to educating young people about horses, 4-H experience is something colleges love to see on applications and the 4-H program offers several scholarships. The 4-H program is also heavily involved in a variety of community service projects and the Sussex County Fair.
A little about Merry-Go-Riders...
Merry-Go-Riders is a young club - started in July of 2007. We're still a small group which we believe makes us a great place to learn. Our club accepts new members all year (only members who join before January 1st are eligible for the Fair in August). We have a great spring planned with a variety of exciting and educational activities!
